Automatic Audio/Video Fader
A unit was required that would allow control over the level of a video signal.
The unit was to be used with a computerised titling system to fade the titles in and out.
The design shown includes an automatic fade function where
the signal reduces or increases in level automatically at the flick of a switch.
An audio circuit compliment's the video circuit and includes the same features
The previous design used a level clipping technique to achieve the fading
action, this caused problems with the colour since the circuit also clipped the colour burst
information.
A second unit was built which used a dedicated IC to split the video signal into
its different components before the attenuation process takes place. The results provided by
this method were found to be much better.
